The dragon/human hybrids in THE EYE OF CAER WEILEN are descended from the full-blooded dragons of legend. Before their species died out, some dragons blended their genes with human genes so that their species could live on even after the last full-blooded dragon died.

The dragons of Vakronia did not die out because men killed them; they brought about their own annihilation with constant warfare between the dragon races. Each race believed that their race was superior to the other races, and failed to understand how much they needed each other until it was too late.

The dragon/human hybrids in THE EYE OF CAER WEILEN are descendants of the Tarren race. Tarren dragons are earth dragons; they are masters of rock, sand, gemstones, pebbles, soil, minerals, etc.

Other dragon races include the Tanllwyth (fire) and the Dyfrllyd (water).
